MBBS stands for Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. Every year lakhs of MBBS aspirants appear in NEET-UG and other accepted entrance exams. This course aims at providing the knowledge of various concepts related to human body, medicine or drug formulation, surgery, through theory and practical training. The duration of MBBS is 5 years and six months including one-year mandatory internship. 4 ½ years stands for academic studies and last one year is dedicated to clinical internship in various departments. There is total nine semesters. Moreover, MBBS course is regulated by the National Medical Commission (NMC) India. After completing the MBBS, graduates are entitled to use prefix Dr. before their name. According to the guidelines of the higher court, the Supreme Court of India, you must be NEET qualified in order to apply for admission to any medical college. MBBS Eligibility Criteria

    • At the time of admission, a candidate’s minimum age must be 17 years old as of December 31 and their maximum age must be 25 years old (with a 5-year age reduction for ST/SC/OBC candidates).
    • The applicant must have earned a 10+2 certificate with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as their primary subjects.
    • Candidates who fall under the General category must have obtained at least 50% on their exams in the areas of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English, or its equivalent.
    • Candidates from the reserved categories must have received at least 40% on an individual basis in the areas of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English from an accredited board.
    • Lastly, all aspiring candidates are required to appear in the NEET test and qualify the exam with good scores.

MBBS Admission Process in India

  • By connecting to the official website, candidates must complete the online registration process by providing a valid email address, phone number, and date of birth.
  • They must upload all the essential documents to the application form once registration is complete.
  • Applicants are required to pay the registration fees after completing the application form.
  • A few days previous to the exam, the admit cards will be made available.
  • Candidates should download the admit card from the portal.
  • The NEET exam will be held on the day specified on the admission card.
  • After that the candidates who have qualified the entrance examination will be shortlisted for counselling. A merit list will be prepared and published by the institutions separately.
  • For 15% of the All-India Quota, deemed/central universities/AFMS, and ESIC institutes, MCC will handle the NEET counselling. All seats at private institutions and the remaining 85% of state-funded seats in government colleges will be filled by the appropriate state authorities. Admission will be provided on the basis of NEET rank, score, seat availability, fees payment, documents verification, etc.
